The record
Shelved for over fifteen years, this quartet session trades a horn partner for Hancock's harmonic instincts and Chambers' loose pulse. McBee's elastic bass gives the four tunes a searching, unhurried feel unlike the rest of Shorter's Blue Note dates from the period.

Pressings
We hold no 1960s LP for this title. The earliest pressing on file is the 1980 US Blue Note, LT-1056, carrying an RVG stamp, and that is the copy to look for. Britain followed in 1981 with LBR 1037, also RVG-stamped. Blue Note's 1995 180g remaster, B1 7243 8 33581 1 3, is the cleanest modern option. The only 2018 entry we hold is a test pressing, B0029357-01.
