The record
Jeremy Steig's flute and Sam Brown's guitar push this date toward a looser, folk-inflected sound, reworking traditional melodies with players drawn from New York's bebop scene. Cecil McBee's bass and Freddie Waits' drums keep it grounded even as Winter's soprano wanders into pastoral territory.
