Rashied Ali at the drums implies the pulse more than he states it, and that changes everything above him: Jackie McLean, Woody Shaw and Grachan Moncur III move from written unison into open collective playing without much warning. Every copy on file carries BST 84284, so the catalog number will not help you -- the 1968 stereo pressing with an RVG stamp is the earliest we list, and Blue Note reissued the same number in 1973 and again in 1975, both also RVG-stamped. Labels and jacket are the only tell. The foreign issues here are undated: a UK BLC 84284 and two German copies. No mono is listed.
