The record
A quartet-plus-Hubbard date cut deep in Rivers' mid-'60s run for Blue Note, straddling hard bop's harmonic language and freer, more angular terrain. Hancock and Carter keep the ground shifting under Rivers' multi-reed attack, with Chambers pushing the pulse toward abstraction throughout.

Pressings
Mono BLP 4206 and stereo BST 84206 are both listed for 1967, the stereo with an RVG stamp. The earliest flag sits on the stereo, but read the labels rather than trust it. Blue Note then reused 84206 for a long line of repressings -- Liberty labels, a 1970 black and turquoise, stereo reissues running to 1977 -- most of them still RVG-stamped, so the stamp alone will not date a copy here. The one modern option is Heavenly Sweetness HSV037VL, a 2010 French 180 gram.
