The record
Rivers' debut as a leader threads free playing through hard-bop structure, with Byard's angular comping and the young Tony Williams pushing tempos into new shapes. A quietly radical session that showed Blue Note's outer edge in late 1964.

Pressings
The 1965 US copies are the earliest on file here -- stereo BST 84184 with an RVG stamp and Plastylite ear, mono 4184 with the ear. The 1966 repressings of both BLP 4184 and BST 84184 still carry stamp and ear for a fraction of the ask, and are the sane buy. Music Matters cut MMBST-84184 at 45 RPM in 2011 from a Kevin Gray remaster, gatefold; Blue Note's own B0024362-01 followed in 2016.
