The record

Cecil Payne and Pepper Adams give this Prestige date a rare two-baritone front line, trading weight with trombone and trumpet over a rhythm section split between Bill Evans and Tommy Flanagan. The roster alone makes this one-day summit worth pulling from the stacks.

Pressings

A short list. The earliest pressing on file here is the 1958 US Prestige 8202 in mono, and it is the only original-era copy we hold. After that the trail jumps two decades: a 1979 Japanese promo reissue, SMJ-6605(M), then 1983 brought both the US Original Jazz Classics OJC-062 and a French Prestige 68399. The OJC is the practical copy; nothing audiophile is listed.
