A 1953 Prestige date that finds Evans already thinking in unusual timbres -- bassoon threaded through reed voicings, alto lines split between Gryce, Konitz, and Shihab. Early evidence of the orchestral ear he'd bring to Miles later in the decade, worked out here in small-group form.
