The record
A tight, blues-drenched hard bop date led from the drum chair, with Bill Hardman's brass punch and the lesser-known Frank Haynes digging into greasy tenor lines over Billy Gardner's soulful comping. Bailey and bassist Ben Tucker keep the groove low-down and unhurried, true to that gutter-level title.
