The record
Cut for Victor rather than his usual Contemporary home, this quartet leans on Russ Freeman's economical comping and the Tucker-Frommer pulse to frame Pepper's lean, singing tone. A less-discussed session, but the melodic instincts are already fully formed.
Session personnel
- Art Pepper — alto saxophone
- Ben Tucker — bass
- Gary Frommer — drums
- Russ Freeman — piano
