The record
A working quintet, cut early in '61 before Muse shelved it for years, with Frank Haynes' tenor lending a soulful edge to an unhurried, blues-heavy groove. The guitarist's phrasing here is still sharpening into the voice Blue Note would soon capture.
Session personnel
- Ben Tucker — bass
- Dave Bailey — drums
- Grant Green — guitar
- Billy Gardner — piano
- Frank Haynes — tenor saxophone
