Recorded for Prestige in early '57, this session pairs Jones's brass against a double rhythm section -- Chambers and Watkins on bass, Taylor and Elvin Jones splitting drum duties. Mal Waldron's piano and Frank Wess's flute lend the date a smoky, small-hours feel.

The earliest copy on file here is Prestige's 1957 US mono, catalog 7118; our data records no groove or stamper detail for it. The UK Esquire edition, 32-080, followed in 1959, and Japan reissued it as LPR 88017 in 1974. Prestige came back to the title as PR-7118 in 1996, and Craft pressed a 180 gram mono, CR00868, in 2025 -- the straightforward copy to buy if you only want the music.
