Split between abstract, Andrew Hill-adjacent structures and looser blues-drenched swing, this session shows Hutcherson stretching his post-bop vocabulary with a first-call frontline. Hancock and Chambers push the harmony into open space while Hubbard and Spaulding keep the fire grounded.

Both the mono, BLP 4213, and the stereo, BST 84213, are 1966 US Blue Notes and the earliest we list; both carry an RVG stamp, and the stereo comes in a laminated sleeve. Liberty/NY USA transition-label repressings of 84213 followed in 1966 and 1967 and ask far less for the same mastering. Modern options are the 2015 European 180 gram ST-84213 and a 2026 gatefold reissue, 602458892871.
