The record
Pepper walked into the studio cold to join Miles Davis's own rhythm section, and the tension between West Coast cool and hard-driving East Coast swing became the record. A high point of Contemporary's catalog, with Garland, Chambers, and Jones pushing Pepper into some of his most alert, unguarded playing.
