The record
Xanadu dug up this early-'52 session decades after the fact, finding Pepper's alto already fluent atop Hawes' piano and the Mondragon-Bunker rhythm team. Unhurried, loose-limbed playing from a scene that hadn't yet made him its star.
Session personnel
- Art Pepper — alto saxophone
- Joe Mondragon — bass
- Larry Bunker — drums, vibraphone
- Hampton Hawes — piano
