The record
A rare front-of-house turn for a bassist better known as a sideman's sideman, Ware leads a stacked Windy City frontline through hard-swinging, blues-rooted postbop with real rhythmic snap. Griffin and Jenkins trade fire over a shifting drum chair, catching a Chicago scene too often overshadowed by New York's spotlight.
