The record
A snapshot of the Messengers mid-transformation, with Blakey's rotating cast -- Silver and Drew trading piano duties, Mobley and McLean both on alto/tenor -- catching the group's hard-bop language just as it was solidifying into a house style.

Pressings
We hold no original-era LP for this title. The earliest pressing on file is the 1982 Columbia FC 38036, issued for the US and Canada, and the only alternative is a 1984 Japanese CBS/Sony, 25AP 2778, in mono, which turns up as both a stock copy and a promo. So the choice is a straight one between an early-eighties American copy and a Japanese mono. Buy on condition; there is no scarce pressing to hold out for here.
