A brisk 1957 date that finds the tenor man surrounded by a young frontline -- Byrd's crisp trumpet and Jenkins' alto sparring over Timmons' bluesy comping, with Ware and Philly Joe pushing hard from below. A tidy, undersung entry from Mobley's prolific run of Blue Note sessions that year.

Pressings
The earliest on file is the 1957 Blue Note mono BLP 1560, with a deep groove, RVG stamp and the 47 W 63rd address -- the copy that matters here. Nothing else appears until 1970 and 1973 mono reissues of the same number. Japan's 1984 BLP 1560 keeps the RVG stamp. Classic Records cut it to 200-gram mono in 2009, and Blue Note returned to mono in 2026 on 602465247831.
