The record
One blues stretches past twenty minutes here, Coltrane and Byrd trading extended solos while Garland's chords settle into a deep groove. Recorded in November '57, the quintet sounds unhurried and fully warmed up.

Pressings
The earliest on file is the 1958 US Prestige 7130 in mono, and Prestige reissued the same number in 1964 -- the two are easy to confuse, so check the label before paying up. An Esquire pressing, 32-099, covered the UK in 1960. For a clean playing copy, OJC-293 from 1987 is the cheap route and Analogue Productions' APRJ 7130, first in 2012 and again in 2022, the careful one.
