The record
Barry Harris and Max Roach handle the rhythm chores here, giving Jones room to show off both his Basie-schooled brass tone and his ear for arrangement. Billy Mitchell's tenor adds a lean, blues-soaked counterweight to the trumpet lead.

Pressings
The earliest on file is a 1956 mono, BLP 1527, with an RVG stamp, a Plastylite ear and a flat edge; an undated copy is logged with a Lexington Avenue label. A 1957 mono adds a deep groove and a no-frame cover with the ear on side two, and a 1958 repress keeps both groove and ear. No stereo is listed anywhere in the file. Music Matters cut MMBLP-1527 at 45 RPM in 2010 and on 180 gram in 2016.
