The record
A hard-swinging late-'50s date built around Al Grey's trombone growl, with a young Lee Morgan already blazing alongside Wynton Kelly's bright comping and Charlie Persip's crisp drive. Billy Mitchell and Billy Root round out a horn-heavy front line that turns bebop's vocabulary into pure, driving big-toned fun.

The earliest copy on file here is Specialty's 1957 US mono, SP-2110, with a stereo SP-5001 listed the same year. France got LTZ-U15121 on London in 1957 with a flat edge and the UK followed in 1958. Specialty repressed SP-2110 in 1960, and Japan issued YQ-7026-SP in 1975. For a clean modern copy without hunting, the 2008 Jazz Beat reissue is numbered 532.
