The record
Cut just weeks after Coltrane's quartet dissolved, this reunites Tyner with Elvin Jones for a set of modal firepower, with Henderson's tenor cutting through the churn. "Passion Dance" opens the date and still hits like a statement of intent.

The earliest pressings on file here are both 1967 US Blue Note copies -- stereo BST 84264 with an RVG stamp, and mono BLP 4264 beside it. The number then stays put through a long run of US reissues in 1970, 1973 and 1977, while Japan issued LNJ-80099 and GXF 3008. For a modern audiophile copy, Music Matters cut it at 45 RPM in 2011 as MMBST-84264, gatefold and 180 gram.
