The record
A trio date from the pianist's early years, cut for Capitol with Guy Pedersen and a young Daniel Humair keeping pace with his quick, contrapuntal touch. Solal's European take on the American piano-trio format -- witty, harmonically restless, and already showing the instincts that would draw Sidney Bechet and later Newport into his orbit.
