The record
The Turrentine brothers trade gruff, soulful lines over Tucker and Harewood's steady engine room, with Parlan's percussive left hand driving the grit underneath. Cut the same year he was gigging with Mingus, and the session carries that same muscle.

Pressings
The earliest pressing on file here is the 1960 US mono BLP 4043, carrying deep groove, RVG stamp, the 47 W 63rd address and a Plastylite ear. A 1962 BLP 4043 mono repeats those markers, one copy in a laminated sleeve, and asks far less. Stereo arrives on BST 84043 in 1977. For a new cut, Music Matters did MMBST 84043 at 45 RPM in 2007 and Classic Records a 200-gram mono, BN 4043-MONO-200G, in 2008.
