The record

A 1963 summit of West Coast free-leaning voices, cut around the same sessions as Dolphy's other Lasha/Simmons dates, with young Woody Shaw and Bobby Hutcherson already signaling where the music was headed. Posthumously issued on the small Exodus label, it's a bittersweet document of Dolphy's restless, exploratory final year.
