The record
A rare pre-Unity summit, cut in Germany with Larry Young easing over to piano and a teenage Woody Shaw already sounding fully formed alongside Davis's flute. MPS's clean, close-miked sound catches this expat rhythm section -- Woode and Brooks -- locking into a lithe, understated groove.
