The record
A sharp early Prestige date from Nelson, cut just before his Blue Note breakthrough, pairing his reeds with Dolphy's alto and bass clarinet for a front line of real bite. Duvivier, Haynes, and Wyands keep things swinging hard underneath, hinting at the arranging smarts Nelson would soon unleash on a larger scale.
