The record
Cut loose from Coltrane's group barely two years earlier, Jones leads a fierce quartet through the Vanguard's low ceiling, with Coleman's tenor riding hard atop that churning, polyrhythmic pulse. A young Hannibal Marvin Peterson adds brash trumpet fire to a set that shows Jones fully commanding as a bandleader in his own right.
