A raw 1968 live document from a Texas-bred trumpeter still years from his Hannibal moniker's full flowering, caught fronting a horn-heavy soul-jazz outfit thick with organ and double bass. P-Vine's reissue rescues a session steeped in the era's gospel-tinged, groove-driven undercurrent, before Peterson's sound turned toward freer, more expansive territory.
