The record
Pepper reunites with three-quarters of Miles's rhythm section, and the borrowed swing suits him -- Kelly's bright comping and Chambers' walking lines push the alto into looser, more effusive territory. Candoli sits in on select tracks, adding brassy contrast to a set that feels like a warm continuation of "Meets the Rhythm Section."
