Dick Hyman's organ and Dom Um Romao's drums sit under string charts built for a wider American room, following Wave into fuller orchestration. Underneath the gloss, Jobim's guitar and hushed vocal keep the Rio pulse intact.

Pressings
The earliest copies we list are all 1967. In the US that means stereo WS 1699, one noted as a Pitman pressing, plus a mono W 1699 that appears only as a promo -- no US stock mono is on file. Britain got both, and the UK mono W 1699 comes in a laminated sleeve. After that it thins out fast: an Australian stereo in 1968, and Discovery's DS-848 in 1981.
