The record

Bonfá's guitar work here leans into the bossa nova wave he helped ignite a few years earlier, with dual drummers Hélcio Milito and Dom Um Romão layering the rhythm with unmistakable Rio warmth. A mid-'60s Philips date that finds the composer of "Manhã de Carnaval" still deep in the idiom he helped define.
