The record
Six players work the rhythm end here, this Dawn date arriving before the Jazz Modes name settled, Julius Watkins' horn and Charlie Rouse's reed already finding their blend. Katz and Mahones split piano duties while two bassists and two drummers rotate through, giving these sides a loose, searching feel.
