The record
A tenor stylist too often overlooked even within his own label's ranks, Brooks leads a tight quintet with a young Freddie Hubbard, whose brass still carries the glow of his early Blue Note dates. Duke Jordan's spare, blues-rooted comping anchors the session, letting Brooks's warm, unhurried tone speak for itself.

Pressings
The earliest pressing on file is the 1960 mono BLP 4041, with an RVG stamp; a 1960 mono test pressing is also listed, carrying deep groove, RVG stamp and Plastylite ear. Then nothing until Japanese reissues in 1981 and 1989. Most buyers land on the modern cuts: Music Matters issued MMBST-84041 in 2008 and again in 2014, and a 2005 US mono BLP 4041 reproduces deep groove and a flat edge.
