The record
A tuba in the front line is the whole proposition: Ray Draper alongside Jackie McLean's alto and Webster Young's trumpet, which gives the ensemble a bottom-heavy weight most horn sections never get near. Mal Waldron, Spanky DeBrest and Ben Dixon handle the rest. Six tracks, 'Jackie's Dolly' and 'Mimi's Interlude' included. Prestige PRLP 7096, 1957.
