The record
Oscar Pettiford and Max Roach are the only company Rollins keeps here, stretching a single theme toward twenty minutes without a piano to lean on. Riverside let the subject -- civil rights, unresolved -- shape the pacing as much as the horn does.

The earliest on file here is a 1958 US Riverside RLP 12-258 in mono with deep groove -- but a 1958 repress and a 1960 repress carry deep groove as well, so the marker alone will not date a copy. Read the labels. Every stereo listing on this title is a later European remaster, not a period mix. OJC-067 from 1983 is the honest listening copy, reissued again in 2014.
