The record
A mid-'60s date that found the underappreciated Criss in blistering form, his bebop-rooted alto cutting through with a bluesy urgency Chambers and Dawson keep taut and swinging. Walter Davis Jr.'s comping adds a Bud Powell lineage to a session that helped reignite Criss's recorded output after years of relative silence.
