The record
Recorded for Limelight with congas and percussion thick in the mix, Kirk stretches his reed battery over Latin-tinged rhythm while Horace Parlan's piano and celeste add color. A groove-forward session where Afro-Cuban rhythm never dulls his tenor's bite.

The earliest on file is the 1966 US Limelight LM 82033, mono in a gatefold sleeve; a mono promo of the same number is listed too. The UK Mercury issues, LML 4019 in mono and SLML 4019 in stereo, both come in laminated sleeves and are the pick if you want the jacket to survive. The US stereo only turns up as a 1973 reissue, LS 86033, so a period American stereo is not on offer here.
