The record
Hefti steps out from behind the arranger's desk to lead a lean quintet, trading big-band charts for a breezy, small-group swing built around his trumpet and Wally Richardson's clean-toned guitar. A lighter-hearted side of a writer better known for Basie and Batman, cut for Columbia at the top of the '60s.
