The record
An expat American tenorman fronting a Kenny Clarke/Francy Boland rhythm section, cut for MPS during that fertile mid-'60s stretch when Europe's jazz scene ran on transplanted Americans. Davis's blend of hard bop grit and soprano/flute color makes this a lesser-known but sturdy document of the era's transatlantic swing.
