Boland's voicings and Clarke's bebop-bred pulse lock together here, backed by a horn line pairing Sahib Shihab's baritone with Karl Drewo and Billy Mitchell's tenors. Atlantic caught this Euro-American unit in early 1963, already sounding like a band built to last.
