The record
A festival document from Tolliver's collective, caught by Black Lion at a moment when Music Inc was pushing post-Blakey hard bop into freer, more expansive territory. Hicks and Workman lock in behind Tolliver's brass while Queen drives the date with a loose, combustible energy typical of the group's live sets.
Session personnel
- Reggie Workman — bass
- Alvin Queen — drums
- John Hicks — piano
- Charles Tolliver — trumpet, flugelhorn, producer
