The record

Murphy's dusky baritone finds sympathetic company in the Clarke-Boland Big Band's European jazz aristocracy, Boland's charts wrapping vocal lines in brass shadow rather than blare. Cut for MPS in late '67, it's a rarer, more atmospheric side of Murphy -- singing as one more horn in a very well-stocked section.
