The record
Cut for Columbia in 1967 with a stacked horn-and-guitar frontline -- King Curtis and Ronnie Cuber's baritone thickening the groove, Blue Mitchell's trumpet up top, Benson and Sparks trading guitar lines over Smith's Hammond. A greasy, backbeat-heavy session that shows the young organist already fluent in soul-jazz's crossover pull.
Session personnel
- Ronnie Cuber — baritone saxophone [baritone]
- Marion Booker Jr. — drums
- George Benson — guitar
- Melvin Sparks — guitar [drums (sic.)]
- King Curtis — tenor saxophone
