Late-period trombone mastery from the man who defined bebop 'bone, cut for Impulse! with a stacked rhythm section split between two bassists and drummers. Elvin Jones and McCoy Tyner bring their Coltrane-quartet muscle to Johnson's own knotty, brass-forward writing, while Toots Thielemans adds an unexpected guitar voice to the frontline.
