Parlan's behind-the-beat phrasing sets the pace here, Tucker and Harewood following with loose, patient interaction rather than pushing tempo. A quiet standout among his trio sessions of the period, built on space as much as notes.

Pressings
The earliest copy we list is the 1960 US Blue Note mono, BLP 4037. The 1961 mono of the same number is the marker-heavy one -- deep groove on side one, RVG stamp, 47 W 63rd address, laminated sleeve -- and that is what most buyers are after. A 1966 BLP 4037 keeps the RVG stamp but carries neither ear nor deep groove. Music Matters cut MMBST-84037 at 45 RPM in 2008 and again at 180 gram in 2015.
