The record
Gospel-tinged groove anchors this date, Parlan's left hand hitting as hard as any horn while Tucker and Harewood hold the center. Ervin's tenor and Green's guitar trade lean, patient lines, the whole session closer to Mingus-sideman logic than polished Blue Note sheen.

Blue Note issued this in 1963, mono as BLP 4082 and stereo as BST 84082; the mono is the earliest we list and the stereo carries an RVG stamp. Both were pressed again in 1966, the mono that year showing a deep groove. For a new copy, Blue Note's 2025 Tone Poet, 602455187710, is a gatefold stereo, and Classic Records cut a 200-gram mono, BLP 4082-200g, in 2009. A 1989 Japanese BN 4082 sits between them.
