The record
Booker Ervin's tart tenor and Johnny Coles' warm trumpet front a sturdy sextet, Grant Green threading single-line guitar through Warren and Higgins' rhythm work. Recorded in 1963 but shelved for years, it catches Parlan's writing at its most relaxed and soulful.
