The record
Three drummers and twin bassists stack up behind Bill Evans and a reed section led by Al Cohn and Benny Golson on this brass-heavy suite. Each track maps a Manhattan neighborhood, Russell's arranging turning the city into a swinging, kaleidoscopic portrait.

Pressings
The earliest pressings we list are both 1959 US Decca -- mono DL 9216 and stereo DL 79216, with a promo mono also on file. Britain had Brunswick LAT 8333 the same year. A 1963 US repress reuses DL 79216, so the number alone will not date a copy. The modern option is Decca's 2021 reissue, B0032835-01, a 180 gram stereo gatefold.
