The record

A late-'50s Coral date built on studio-elite New York firepower -- Duvivier and Galbraith anchoring a brass-and-reeds crew that includes Cohn, Severinsen, and the Bert-Green trombone tandem, with Venuto's mallet arsenal adding tonal color throughout. Arranger George Romanis leans on that deep bench for a program of orchestral jazz miniatures, more mood-piece than blowing session.
