The record
A funk-inflected date from Ammons's early-70s Prestige run, cutting his big-toned tenor against electric piano, organ, and a rotating rhythm crew that includes Cobham and Carter. Grittier and groove-heavy compared to his earlier soul-jazz sides, it finds the tenor man adapting to the decade without losing his signature warmth.
